Photoshop Contest '07

Some of these turned out great, and make wonderful desktop backgrounds!

This competition gave contestants a limited amount of pictures to work with and whoever turned out the best image won a Macbook Pro. Neat!

Integrating Album Art Into Your Desktop

If you're a big music listener like myself and enjoy adding a bit of eye candy to your desktop, this application will suite your needs nicely. It is called CD Art Display, and it sits on your desktop similar to that of a widget and displays the cover art of the album you are listening to in real time (That is, when a track is changed to a new album, the cover will also change to that corresponding album). The great thing about this application, apart from its looks, is that it is also quite practical. When you hover your mouse over the application, a list of options appear which allow you to change track, or pause. Another useful feature is the ability to control the sound by scrolling as your mouse hovers over the program, nice idea!

Another nice quality about this program is that it seems to give you a more personal connection to the music you are listening to. The graphics are very realistic, so it creates a virtual version of the album that makes it seem more like your own, as opposed to just a list of tracks in a window. The ability to change the skin to add a reflection or display a CD of the album also aids in this regard. You can even skin it to create vinyls of your albums!

But when you take everything into account it is mostly an application that excels in graphical appeal. There are also many options to change the looks and functions.

I have not found a better cover art program. Props to the author.
